Karina Association has included a project to support Yvrose Ismael's work with the children of Haiti, and most of them are abandoned. Karina Association provides Yve with administrative and fund raising activities in the USA to bring support and awareness to her mission. 

What We Plan

We are aiming to give appropriate care for the children and young adults who are orphaned or abandoned in Haiti. "Hope House" is a school and a home for orphaned and abandoned children run by Yvrose Ismael in Fond Parisien, Haiti. Yve provides a loving home for 21 of these children as well as providing an education to 150 area children through her free school . We are aiming to create a training program to train older children to sew and buy sewing machines for the students to learn a trade. Yve is planning to plant a huge vegetable garden to sell produce at the market and teach the children skills that will lead a successful independent life. Yve would like to have a passenger bus that she and her husband can drive to Port Au Prince for a fare to help support her program.

The Need

The need for housing, water, and food fills the day. "Hope House" orphanage needs urgently $40 000 to bring electricity to the school, buy a school bus for the children, and build a fence and a school building.

WHO IS YVROSE ISMAEL

A woman with a vision

 -A woman who has been part of the Nantucket Community and inspires us all to help.
-A Haitian woman educated in both Haiti and the United States.
-A teacher who has taught in Haiti and North Carolina.
-A woman who established and funded two schools in Haiti to offer children a free education.
-A loving caregiver who came to Nantucket in November of 2009 to care for Jim Genthner’s parents.
-A persistent woman, never forgetting the need to return to Haiti to fix the roof on one of her schools. She returned to Haiti on January 22th 2010. She was standing on the streets of Port-au-Prince when the city came tumbling down around her. She lost teachers, students and friends. Using all of the batteries and supplies she had brought for her school, she spent the next 2 weeks in Haiti caring for the injured and homeless, many of them children.
-A hopeful woman who mobilized this Island in a mission to fill an entire shipping container with food, clothes, tools, medical and building supplies. Yve made certain the container made the long journey to Fond Parisien, Haiti where she is still sharing the contents with those in need.
-A woman who cannot be discouraged. One of her schools had been completely destroyed by the earthquake. She returned to Haiti in March of 2010 with a tent to open another free school for children. The school now has 143 students, some who walk 1-1/2 hours to get there.
-A woman with a plan for an orphanage and a school with real buildings. She needs sewing machines for the students to learn a trade and a huge vegetable garden to sell produce at market.
-A faithful, joyful woman whose love of God is seen in her smile and felt by everyone who embraces her.
